Hill View Residents Raise Alarm on Karura Management Changes
We the Hill View Residents’ Association (HVRA) are deeply concerned about the recent events and sidelining of Friends of Karura Forest (FKF) from the joint agreement that was entered between Kenya Forest Service and FKF.
With the little neighbourhood greenery and forest left in Nairobi, FKF has achieved tremendous footprint in creating a safe, secure, green and friendly environment for the residents of Nairobi to visit Karura Forest for recreational purposes. The FKF through its management and other collaborative efforts have also created a sustainable forest that benefits the community, is self-generating whilst improving and maintaining our ecosystem. The various groups that support the spirit of FKF is a testimony of confidence generated over time based on how Karura Forest has evolved in the last 15-20 years.
Therefore, we support FKF in their joint efforts with KFS to promote Karura Forest and in maintaining our environment.
